The Wall Street TARP Gang Wants to Take Away Your Social Security
Just over two years ago, the Wall Streeters were running around Congress and the media saying that if they don't immediately get $700 billion the world will end. Since they own large chunks of both, they quickly got their money.
Even more important than the hundreds of billions of loans issued through the TARP was the trillions of dollars of loans and guarantees from the Fed and the FDIC. This money came with virtually no strings attached. It kept Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America and many others from collapsing. As a result, folks like Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein are again pocketing tens of millions a year in wages and bonuses, instead of walking the unemployment lines. Instead, 15 million ordinary workers are being told to just get used to being unemployed; it's the "new normal."
But wait, it gets worse. The thing about Wall Streeters is that no matter how much money you give them, they always want more. Now they are using their political power and control over the media to attack Social Security.
This effort is being led by billionaire investment banker Peter Peterson. Mr. Peterson has personally profited to the tune of tens of millions of dollars from the "fund managers' tax subsidy," an obscure provision of the tax code that allows billionaires to pay a lower tax rate than schoolteachers and firefighters. However, Peterson believes in giving back. He has committed $1 billion to an effort that is intended to take away the Social Security benefits that people have worked and paid for.
As part of this effort, Peterson set up a whole new foundation, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation. He and/or his foundation created a "news service," the Fiscal Times, which is intended to promote the view that we have no choice but to cut Social Security. The Fiscal Times has entered into agreements with the Washington Post and other credible newspapers to provide material.
Peterson is also funding the creation of a high school curriculum which is intended to tell our children that the in the future the country will be too poor to finance Social Security. He funded a silly exercise called "America Speaks," which was supposed to convince an assembly of selected participants that we must cut Social Security after a daylong immersion in Peterson-style propaganda. (The people didn't buy it.) And now his crew is spending $20 million on an ad campaign to convince people the world will end if we don't cut Social Security.
Attacks on Social Security have been fended off in the past and it is possible that this one will be too. It is an incredibly popular and successful program. It does exactly what it was supposed to do. It provides a modest income to the retired and disabled, and their families, to ensure that people who have spent their lives working will not fall into poverty. It is also extremely efficient, with administrative costs that are less than 1/20th as large as the costs of private insurers.
It also has very little fraud. We know this because earlier this year the Washington Post made a big point of hyping mistaken payments to federal employees than involved less than 0.01 percent of Social Security spending. If substantial fraud did exist, the Washington Post wouldn't have to hype small change to try to discredit the program.
The really incredible part of this story is that we should be talking about increasing Social Security benefits. Benefits are quite low by international standards. The portion of wage income replaced by Social Security is considerably lower than the retirement benefit provided by the systems in Australia, Canada, Germany and most other wealthy countries.
As a result, many of the retirees who are dependent almost entirely on Social Security have incomes that are only slightly above the poverty line. A modest increase in benefits could make a big difference in these people's standard of living.
In addition, the near retirees, the people directly in the gun sights of the Wall Street TARPers, have just seen most of their wealth destroyed by the collapse of the housing bubble. The Wall Streeters now want to kick them yet again, by taking away Social Security benefits that they have already paid for.
If Congress and the media worked for the public, we would be debating Wall Street speculation taxes right now. Insofar as we need to do something about the deficit in the longer term, taxing Wall Street speculation is a far more economic desirable route than taking away the Social Security benefits that ordinary workers have already paid for. We could easily raise more than $1.5 trillion over the next decade with a broadly based speculation tax than would have almost no impact on anyone except the Wall Street crew.
Even the IMF is now pushing higher taxes on the Wall Street types, recognizing the enormous waste and rents in the financial sector. But the media and Congress do not respond to economic reality, they respond to money. And Peter Peterson and the Wall Street crew are not paying for an honest discussion of the country's fiscal and economic problems. They are financing a rigged debate that is intended to result to even more money flowing to Wall Street and less to those who work for a living.

In football games they're always looking at the clock to see how much time is left. Sometimes a "hail Mary" pass can turn a losing game to a winning one with seconds to go. Life is like a football game in that there is always a clock that is ticking and what we do before the final economic bell rings may determine whether we survive or perish. Things have been transpiring at a dizzy pace and many believe that we have but precious little time to get our preparations completed before the bell tolls. The Federal Reserve has been busy printing trillions of dollars, rendering the dollar a fraction of what it was. The price of food, gasoline, etc has been going up prodigiously...inflation will soon impoverish the vast majority of Americans and if they have not prepared they will be in a precarious position when time runs out.
The prudent individual will see the handwriting on the wall and not wait until the last horse has left before he closes the barn door. If you live in the city you need to get out. It's nice to philosophize and muse about the benefits of urban life, proximity to concerts, cafés, sports, etc, but in reality the city is the last place you want to be when there are desperate people out on the streets. When you don't give people jobs you take away their self respect and turn them into angry mobs who will rape, maim and kill.
We are headed for a feudal society, with people gathered in fortified communities on the land. Europe lived under feudalism for centuries. You need to get yourself a piece of property away from cities; store food, water and guns and when the time is ripe, forge a community with your neighbors. The fate of cities is almost too gruesome to contemplate once the stuff hits the fan and all economic hell breaks out. Out in the country food can be grown and livestock raised. Wells can be dug and horses used for transportation (The Amish were right all along).
The mainstream media is criminal in its silence concerning the coming economic collapse. Daily they bombard their hapless audience with the most blatant lies that even they can't possibly believe. Despite the dismal statistics they hash out their propaganda while millions of people act as if everything is normal and they are told doomsayers are conspiracy theorists. But the internet is not controlled yet by the elite and truth is still to be found. Thank God for this medium that we have to communicate our views and learn the truth. The coming event will try the will of the most hardened survivalist...may we succeed in our endeavor to survive and may God have mercy on our souls.

Surviving the coming economic collapse and societal breakdown
It has become obvious to anyone who has made even a cursory inquiry into the matter that the current state of affairs in the United States is untenable. When 400 people own more wealth than half the entire country, and are grabbing the rest from the other half, it can only be called tyranny. The real unemployment rate is 25%, the homeless population is approaching a third world level, crime is escalating to anarchy levels, The Federal Reserve is printing money so profusely that inflation will soon make the dollar worthless, goon squads are dragging teachers from State Houses for exercising their First Amendment Rights, pundits are yelling for the abolishment of Social Security, in general, life in the United States is becoming intolerable and a collapse is inevitable.
Of course we survivalists have known this for some time and have been making preparations. We have chosen the place to make our last stand, we have put back water, food, guns and ammo, medical supplies, livestock and garden supplies. We have chosen a geographical location that affords us the best chance of survival and we have studied the terrain. We have steeled our intellect with the fortitude necessary to overcome adversity and to marshal the resources required to face the new feudal world that we will be confronted with. Those who have squandered their time and resources will be broadsided by the events unfolding, and will be in no position to cope with the new reality. There will be no CNN or Fox News to tell them what to do. Supermarket shelves will be cleared in hours, gas stations will be out of gas, utilities will be cut off and chaos will reign.
In light of the foregoing, let’s examine our options. We can go it alone, Rambo style, or forge relationships with our neighbors and form a community. By awakening to the New Reality, we have already become “Rambos”, but to exercise the second option, we need to wait until the time is ripe. At present, many of our neighbors are totally oblivious to the impending calamity and would not make good allies and might even turn us over to the FBI as conspiracy theorists. Once the collapse hits, however, our neighbors will be bewildered and will welcome our counsel. Like it or not, we SHTF survivalists will be the leaders of our communities because we have prepared and we have put back extra for the sheeple who have squandered their time and resources. We will have food to share and guns to distribute. We will have a water source and a knowledge of the terrain. Therefore it is incumbent on us to hone our leadership skills.

In order to prepare ourselves for our role as community leaders, we need to study history and learn from the past because history repeats itself. In feudal Europe and Japan, people gravitated into communities and became self-sufficient. A perimeter was set up around the castle and people grew their crops and tended their livestock and they could be let into the castle and the drawbridge closed in the event of attack. Everyone had his task to do and sufficient water and food was stored in case of an emergency. There was no IRS, no goon squads stomping people, no homeless and no unemployment. This way of life lasted centuries. There was chivalry, respect and loyalty towards the community.
Life in America after the collapse will be similar to the way it was in the 1800’s: rugged individualists surviving on the land as best they can, not expecting assistance from any arrogant, far away federal government, nor any draconian laws telling them what they must do or be sent to prison. They had the Bill of Rights to protect them. Life was harsh, to be sure, and many people died from all sorts of causes. But the ones who survived had hope that things would get better. We can look forward to hope. There is no hope in the current state of affairs in the United States, it looks very bleak and only the most cockeyed optimist could think that somehow things could be patched up and everything will be just fine.
To be more specific as to what steps we must take to prepare ourselves for the coming event, let’s examine the biological needs of a human. First and foremost is oxygen, because we can’t live for more than 5 minutes without it. For the affluent preppers, an underground bunker with an air filtration system would be ideal. For the less affluent among us, gas masks and face filters would be a prudent addition to our stores. Second is water, we can’t live more than three days without it. The ideal situation would be a well close to your main shelter, with either a hand pump or a bucket and pulley because electricity will be out. Even if you have generators or solar panels it’s a good idea to have the option of converting to a manual system as a precaution. Whether you have a well or not, however, everyone needs to store as many gallons of water as they have containers. You can’t have too much water.

Once you have stored enough water, food is next. Canned goods, dry foods, flour, corn meal, dried beans, dried beef, etc should be put in air tight containers and stored in a secured location. You need at least a years supply. Medical supplies are next, put away things like aspirin, bandages, iodine, etc. If you need prescriptions, try to hoard as much as possible. In order to protect all these items that you have so carefully put away over the years, you will need weapons. A 12 guage shotgun is the king of home defense weapons. A good 9mm pistol would be great. Store as many weapons as you can afford because you may have to hand some out to those who did not prepare in the community. You should also have less lethal weapons, such as pellet guns, slingshots, billy clubs and knives.
Every community must have a copy of the Constitution, because it will be the basis of the conduct of those within the community, as well as for relations with other communities. When law and order is restored it will once again be the thing that holds society together. Since there will be no electronic communication, we should all start storing printed copies of everything we need to survive, how to manuals, textbooks, etc. We won’t be able to Google anything, so a stocked bookcase will be a lifesaver.
We are all going to have to become farmers again. Even if you now live in the city, more than likely you will have to bug out one day and then you will be called upon to use your skills to survive off the land. We need to learn how to raise chickens, goats, pigs, cattle, etc. We need to learn how to raise crops and gather edible things from the woods. Acorns, for example, are edible. Even the inner bark of trees is edible. We will need to sharpen our hunting skills once again. A deer will provide food for a whole community, and small game can be used in soups and stews. The main thing that we need to concentrate on is acquiring a mindset of survival.

Our spiritual nature will be put to the test when the stuff hits the fan. Even though we have prepared for the coming collapse, deep down we hope it won’t happen and we will be still devastated when it does. We need to prepare our wills and souls for the collapse as well as our shelters and stores. Whatever God you believe in or don’t believe in, one thing is sure: The Cosmos brought us forth, and it doesn’t make any logical sense that it would produce such exquisite creatures as ourselves only to be snuffed out as if we never existed. We will continue on no matter what happens. In the meantime, we need to exhibit a congenial, compassionate exterior to the world which will serve us in good stead when things get dicey. Others will see and hear that we are to be trusted, and that an alliance with us will be beneficial. It is much better to have an ally than an enemy, so cultivate those qualities which will set you apart from the many untrustworthy scumbags which always come out of the woodwork during an emergency.
So we say goodbye to CNN, McDonalds, Wallmart, cars, etc and say hello to hard work, diligence, community spirit and a renewed sense of humanness. We have a lot to do and time is short. May you find the will and the stamina required to persevere and thrive in the New Reality. May you find solace in the fact that you are not alone and all of us are with you in spirit. WE WILL SURVIVE!!!!!

It is typical of what our country has become that a privileged individual, who doesn't have to worry about surviving the rigors of old age himself, will castigate 40 million people who worked 40 or 50 years for their Social Security and call them welfare recipients who are bleeding the system dry. This same individual would recoil in horror if it were suggested that we end welfare payments to Israel, or that we question the enormous amounts spent on wars fought against Islamic peoples at the behest of Zionists in Israel and the US. The very thought of casting 40 million elderly people out on the street to die while sending huge sums to Zionist Israel is so revolting as to be Kafkaesque. That a Robert J. Samuelson of Newsweek can utter such grave insults against people who have served their country in combat and worked long and hard for a few dollars a month to sustain them in their twilight years is indicative of the total breakdown of society which will lead to the people rising up as they did innumerable times in history.

People are rebelling all over the world. We demand that the national debt of all countries be immediately wiped off the books and that the Federal Reserve and all other central banks be abolished and the central bankers be put on trial for crimes against humanity. We further demand that public works projects be implemented in all countries to repair the crumbling infrastructure and create jobs to bring all nations back to solvency.
We demand that all US troops be brought back home and all foreign bases closed. We demand that our Constitutional rights be restored and all unconstitutional laws be rescinded. We will no longer tolerate black-shirted goon squads attacking peaceful demonstrators exercising their First Amendment rights. The police are our servants, and their duties are confined to solving crimes and directing traffic, not beating up little old ladies.
We want to fill every last square inch of Washington with demonstrators. We want no less than ten million souls voicing our demands for justice and freedom. We want the largest demonstration in recorded history. We want to tell the world that we are not their enemy, that our government has acted against our will. We will no longer prop up fascist, Zionist, dictatorial and elitist governments anywhere in the world. We want peace and stability in the world.

College student shoots home invader, saves 10 lives
Yet another reason to keep a gun in the house . . .
In the first days of May, 2009, in the notoriously dangerous neighborhood of College Park in Atlanta, Georgia, two armed criminals broke into a house party of students.
After confiscating the group's valuables, the invaders split the men and women up into different rooms.
Witnesses say the perpetrators then counted their rounds and discussed if they had "enough" ammunition.
The students believed the gunmen were going to rape and murder the entire group of students, who were celebrating a birthday at the end of the semester.
However, one male student, whose identity is being protected by police and local media, retrieved a handgun from his backpack and fired at the thug who was detaining the men.
(That is: One smart student had prepared for a night in College Park, Atlanta.)
The criminal fled the apartment under the threat of injury and never returned.
The student continued on into the girls' room, found the other thug, 23-year-old Calvin Lavant, preparing to rape his first victim.
The student exchanged gunfire with Lavant, lethally wounding him in the process. Lavant fled through a window and died in front of his apartment, only one building away.
One of the female students was injured during the exchange, but doctors expect a full and complete recovery.
So what's the point?
A student saved the girls from rape, and saved the whole group of 10 people (including himself) from murder . . . and he did it with a handgun.
This is a perfect example of how ludicrous "big city gun laws" are. What if this had happened in New York, Chicago, or any of the other big cities that criminalize their citizens' self defense?
Yes, we would be reading an entirely different story -- one so horrendous that we would shudder at the very words.
Either this whole group of friends would have been raped and murdered by these two sorry excuses for human beings . . . or the hero of this story would be facing prison time for firearm possession and murder.
And that's exactly how gun-grabber Michael Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns want it.
Thankfully, however, Atlanta hasn't outlawed self-defense yet. And since someone had a gun and was willing to use it, innocent life was preserved.
Congratulations to the unnamed hero of this story. You saved your friends' lives.

Republican targets include arts and cultural funding through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the Smithsonian Institution, the National Archives and Records Administration, the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. All of the entities are routinely included on GOP lists; federal subsidies for the CPB would be effectively eliminated under the House proposal, fulfilling a long-standing conservative pledge to cut federal ties with National Public Radio and public television.
Money for minority business development, family planning and conservation programs also would be axed. Job-training funds would be reduced by $2 billion. Community health centers, which serve many low-income uninsured people, would lose $1 billion in funding. And more than $200 million would be trimmed from maternal and child health grants, which go to immunizations as well as assistance for blind and disabled children.
So, the likes of Goldman Sachs and Bank of America are "too big to fail", and, conversely, the sick, blind, helpless and dying are "too insignificant to be helped"....Is it just me or does anyone else feel like having each member of Congress arrested for high crimes against humanity?...Who the hell ARE these people in Washington? Ilargi: VK, roving reporter for The Automatic Earth, has been playing with the numbers from the January 7 employment report issued by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It seems valuable to look at unemployment from this, a different, angle. Some of it may even surprise you.
The total non institutional civilian labor force (Americans 16 years and older who are not in a institution -criminal, mental, or other types of facilities- or an active military duty) is reported as 238.889 million. Of these, we see:
- Employed: 139.206 million people (58.3% of labor force)
- Unemployed: 14.485 million people (6.1% of labor force)
Obviously, that can't be the total picture, we're only at 64.4%. This is why:
- Part time employed for economic reasons: 8.931 million people. This concerns people who want a full-time job but can't get one.
- Part time employed for non-economic reasons: 18.184 million people. Non-economic reasons include school or training, retirement or Social Security limits on earnings, but also childcare problems and family or personal obligations.
The BLS definition states: "Not in the labor force (NILF). A person who did not work last week, was not temporarily absent from a job, did not actively look for work in the previous 4 weeks, or looked but was unavailable for work during the reference week; in other words, a person who was neither employed nor unemployed." (Clearly, this does include lot of unemployed people).
To summarize: 108.616 million people in America are either unemployed, underemployed or "Not in the labor force". This represents 45.5% of working age Americans.
If you count the "Part time employed for non-economic reasons", you get 126.8 million Americans who are unemployed, underemployed, working part time or "Not in the labor force". That represents 53% of working age Americans.
So only 47% of working age Americans have full time jobs. While the official unemployment rate is 9.4%. Something's missing somewhere.
A few more factoids on the topic:
- Today, the long term unemployed make up 42% of total unemployed. That is to say, of course, those who are actually counted as unemployed instead of "Not in the labor force".
- 43.2 million Americans receive foodstamps. That's 18.1% of all working age Americans. If they all have on average 1.5 dependents, which is probably a reasonable estimate, a full one third of the US population receives at least part of their food through this syste

The larger picture is even grimmer, since the accumulation of surrendered freedoms to fight the "war on terror" is shifting the United States piece by piece from a constitutional republic toward a new-age totalitarian state, as Abby Martin notes in this guest essay:

The concept seems like a far-fetched portrayal of a democratic nation’s demise into totalitarianism, but in America’s “post 9/11” climate of fear, the United States government has been building a comprehensive grid of surveillance and control that bears frightening similarities to Orwell’s fictional narrative.
The glaring difference between the two is that Orwell’s dystopian society is overtly totalitarian. America, conversely, operates under a “soft fascism” – an insidious, systematic method of preventative action and corporate top-down control over society’s media, economy and politics – while maintaining the necessary illusion of personal choice and freedom.
A populace with little to no concept of their subjugation makes them the perfect subjects to rule.
Many Americans might not feel the government’s hand or Big Brother’s watchful eye directly in their lives. However, with the use of GPS, cell phones and the Internet, every move we make can be tracked, cataloged and divided into demographics that are used to increase corporate advertising efficiency and to create a “chilling effect” throughout our culture, stifling dissent and diminishing activism.
During times of war, governments are notorious for capitalizing on their ability to suppress dissent and manipulate the masses. In the wake of 9/11 hysteria, the Bush administration enacted several controversial pieces of legislation that severely curtailed Americans’ freedoms under the pretext of “security” and “protection.”
With the help of a consistently compliant and unquestioning media, his administration also instituted a legal framework to circumvent citizens’ civil liberties and target their free speech.
Bush’s cabinet adopted Orwellian rhetoric and Nazi style propaganda to litigate sweeping measures that further eradicated liberty: The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act’s (USA Patriot Act), warrantless domestic wiretapping, and the Homegrown Terrorism Act & Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act’s criminalization of thought and peaceful activism.
Nine years after 9/11 and two years into Obama’s reign, the vague threat of terrorism still hangs in perpetual balance as the justifying cliché for the administration’s continuation of such Bush-era policies.
Obama has followed the same Bush trends of illegal detention, rendition, wiretapping, spying, state secrets, demonization, persecution and fear mongering against the population.
Obama has aggressively cracked down on whistleblowers who exposed military corruption. He gave a green light to assassinate US citizens abroad without due process of law.
One of the most disturbing trends in the ever-expanding police state are the new Z Backscatter vans, vehicles that are giant X-ray machines, designed to discreetly scan through people’s houses and cars without their knowledge – a surveillance tool that blatantly violates Fourth Amendment rights.
Like Orwell’s portrayal, the U.S. government’s expanding power structure relies on nationalist propaganda to manufacture and cultivate the fear of an enemy. Although the “war on terrorism” has consumed the political climate for almost a decade, the chances of actually dying in a terrorist attack in the United States are statistically insignificant.
This little mentioned fact undermines the current administration’s justification for their extension of state powers and secrecy in order to protect the country’s “national security.”
It’s critically important to create dialogue about America’s covert slide to fascism. Absolute power corrupts absolutely – our politicians and their corporate puppeteers will continue their greedy power grabs unabated unless our society starts speaking out against the dehumanization and the unconstitutionality of the emerging police state.

TO AFFIRM THE RIGHTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA BASED ON THE PROVISIONS OF THE NINTH AND TENTH AMENDMENTS TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.
Amend Title To Conform
Whereas, the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights established a federal government limited in scope and guaranteeing personal liberty so that our citizens will be free to pursue their inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as recognized in the Declaration of Independence; and
Whereas, the Ninth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people"; and
Whereas, pursuant to the Ninth Amendment, the people are guaranteed the right to privacy as a basic human right; and
Whereas, the delivery, administration, and receipt of medical care affects personal privacy and involves the most intimate and personal of choices; and
Whereas, the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people"; and
Whereas, the Tenth Amendment defines the limited scope of federal power as being that specifically granted by the United States Constitution; and
Whereas, pursuant to the Tenth Amendment, by limiting the scope of federal power to only those specifically enumerated in the United States Constitution, the states retain plenary power to govern; and
Whereas, despite the clear limitations placed upon it by the United States Constitution, the federal government has steadily expanded its reach into the lives of our citizens and, in so doing, violates the very principles upon which this nation was founded; and
Whereas, the United States Supreme Court has said that states have great latitude in regulating medical care and standards, which have historically and constitutionally been primary state responsibilities and affect areas of core state responsibility, yet Congress and the President are reaching agreement over legislation that will result in the federal government absorbing the regulation of medical care, stripping the states of most responsibility, and taking away the free choice of the citizens of the states; and
Whereas, the federal government has spent trillions of dollars of borrowed money to run deficits, to bail out financial institutions, to prop-up auto makers, and to keep afloat other private enterprises that were mismanaged, took unnecessary risks, or were unresponsive to market demands, thus amassing a debt that will loom over and burden our country for generations to come; and
Whereas, the federal government habitually responds to its annual budget shortfalls by burdening the states with unfunded mandates, shifting costs for programs to the states, limiting state flexibility, and interfering with state revenue systems, undermining the constitutionally created balance between federal and state government; and
Whereas, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that Congress may not simply commandeer the legislative and regulatory processes of the states, and that states may provide their citizens with protections that exceed the protections by the federal government; and
Whereas, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that the United States Constitution allows states to grant rights to their citizens in their state constitutions, beyond rights granted in the federal Constitution; and
Whereas, the United States Supreme Court has recognized that federal law restricting certain rights may be ineffective in denying those rights protected in state Constitutions; and
Whereas, the State recognizes that as an independent sovereign, the State along with the other states of the union took part in an extensive bargaining process through the adoption of the Constitution and the various amendments thereto, and like any other party to any other agreement, the State is bound to uphold the terms and conditions of that agreement. Through this agreement, the states have collectively created the federal government, limiting the scope of its power and authority, as well as ensuring that certain fundamental rights are guaranteed. Also, through this process the federal judiciary has interpreted the Fourteenth Amendment to limit states' governmental authority by providing that important rights and protections afforded by the United States Constitution to the people as citizens of the United States are also extended to each person as a citizen of an individual state. Pursuant to that interpretation, this State is bound to uphold the principles and protections afforded by the Fourteenth Amendment which guarantees the privileges and immunities of the United States, due process of law, and equal protection under the law; and
Whereas, the federal government is considering legislation that may, among other things, obligate residents in South Carolina and other states to purchase health insurance; and
Whereas, the federal government is considering legislation that may, among other things, mandate that this State and other states increase its spending for Medicaid; and
Whereas, the General Assembly of this State reaffirms that the people of this State, have collectively, through the exercise of their authority as citizens of a sovereign state determined the constitutional balance of power in this State; and
Whereas, the citizens of this State have exercised their sovereign authority both directly through the passage of this state's constitution and the amendments thereto and representatively through their duly elected representatives in the General Assembly, and the General Assembly exercises the power of the people without limitation except as provided by the State Constitution; and
Whereas, one of the most fundamental powers of any state in the exercise of its sovereignty is through the power of appropriation and under our state's constitutional balance of power, the power of appropriation is firmly placed within the province of the General Assembly; and
Whereas, the General Assembly rejects any attempt by the federal government, either through the actions of the Congress or the federal courts, to limit, alter, or otherwise affect in any manner whatsoever the General Assembly's sovereign exercise of the power of appropriation; and
Whereas, there is concern that the federal government will also overstep its authority and violate the Tenth and the Second Amendments of the United States Constitution by enacting far-reaching restrictions or even a ban on gun purchases and ownership; and
Whereas, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution provides: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"; and
Whereas, the protections afforded under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution are of great importance to the citizens of South Carolina and the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, it is vitally important for the future of our nation that the states stand against the relentless expansion of the federal government and restore the proper balance to our federal system. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, claims for the State of South Carolina sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the United States Constitution.
Be it further resolved that it is the policy of the State of South Carolina that:
No law shall interfere with the right of a person to be treated by or receive services from a health care provider of that person's choice;
No law shall restrict a person's freedom of choice of private health care systems or private health care plans of any type;
No law shall interfere with a person's or an entity's right to pay directly for lawful medical services; and
No law shall impose a tax, penalty, or fine, of any type, for choosing a health care provider, to obtain or decline health care coverage or for participation in any particular health care system or plan.
Be it further resolved that it is the policy of the State of South Carolina that the Attorney General will challenge the constitutionality of any provision enacted by the United States Congress that would violate any of the policies established by this resolution and join with other states that are like-minded to make such a challenge.
Be it further resolved that no state agency, agent, department, instrumentality, or subdivision shall cooperate or participate in any way with any mandate passed by Congress upon notification by the Attorney General that the mandate has been successfully challenged in a court of competent jurisdiction, and further provided that there is not an order to the contrary by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Be it further resolved that the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, claims for the citizens of South Carolina and the State of South Carolina freedom from all laws and mandates that violate the rights granted under the Second, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.
Be it further resolved that this resolution serves as notice and demand to the federal government, as South Carolina's agent, to cease and desist immediately all mandates that are beyond the scope of the federal government's constitutionally delegated powers.
Be it further resolved that the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, affirms its support of the Second, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution and a list of all members wishing to be listed as objecting to the concurrent resolution be forwarded to the President of the United States, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and each member of South Carolina's Congressional Delegation, all at Washington, D.C., and to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate of the legislatures of the other forty-nine states.

The Federal Reserve, with their QE1 and QE2 is devaluing the dollar at a prodigious rate...it won't be long until the economy goes into hyperinflation as so many other economies did, from the Weimar Republic to Argentina to Yugoslavia to Zimbabwe, where it took trillions of dollars to buy a loaf of bread...Ben Bernanke should be arrested for high crimes against the people of the United States, the Wall Street bankers that stole trillions should be put on trial just like Bernie Madoff was...they are just as guilty...
We need to band together in our communities and form grass roots resistance movements to confront the criminals in Washington and on Wall Street and take America back...Some are forming militias and some are hunkering down in their bunkers with food, water and guns to try and survive alone, Rambo-style...We're all in this together, and as a unit we cannot be defeated, there are just too many of us...

Why is it that the majority of people, economically, spiritually and emotionally just barely get by and have to scratch and skimp for every morsel? Why are there those few who seem to rise above the pack and achieve a measure of harmony with their environment? When a certain child in school, confronted with peer pressure to engage in behavior that is counter-productive to his development into a happy, well-adjusted individual says: "Not THIS puppy!" he breaks from the pack and establishes his own paradigm which guides him to his goal of emotional, spiritual and economic wealth. When a certain individual, confronted with adversity, looks beyond the hurdles and stumbling blocks towards the ultimate goal, he also establishes a paradigm which enables him to avoid the mistakes of others and so he is able to circle the wagons and beat off the attack. In all matters it is necessary to think ahead and prepare for the inevitable. Jobs are lost, relationships come to an end, your health can take a turn for the worse...adversity is the price we pay for being human...But to slip into bed and pull the covers over your head will not make the events in your life go away...Only by preparing in advance for the inevitable can you cope with the now...Some take the first job they can get and hang on in quiet desperation until the ax falls, then they panic..The astute individual, knowing that just as an architect plans ahead and doesn't just slap together some boards to build a house, so, too, the individual must plan ahead for his means of support...we can't all be doctors, we all have our limitations, so we need to do our research and determine what activity best matches our proclivities and skills and seek to garner those resources which will enable us to find just the right job...In the meantime, we need to acknowledge the economic facts glaring at us and take that action required...If that means working at McDonalds or selling on Ebay, hey! money doesn't have McDonalds written on it...main thing is we don't whine and moan and beat ourselves up...Too many beat themselves up.....but a few say: "Not THIS puppy!".

Too many people are hoodwinked by the allure of banality and sink into the abyss of mundane pursuits, chasing after things, grasping for the very material wealth that enslaves us and drains our energy and leaves us bereft of spirituality. A new car is only new for one year, new clothes go out of fashion overnight, every ephemeral phenomenon we struggle and scratch for fades away right before our eyes...relationships, jobs, homes, interests, all come and go. Only our relationship with the eternal Cosmos and our evolving into spiritual beings is worth our devotion. As a spiritual being we see things differently, we have different expectations, our perception is totally different. We strive to connect with kindred spirits, to associate with those who share our view, and to find ways to make the world a better place. We abhor all that trashes the human spirit and renders an individual a cog in the societal clockwork.

Khalsa describes the Chakra System, a series of 8 "Energy Centers" which are located at various points of the body, seven of which reside within the body and one serves as the "aura". This 8th Chakra is the connection to the Cosmos. It is a force field which surrounds the body and communicates with the 7th Chakra, the Crown Chakra, at the top of the head. The 8 Chakras can get out of alignment, blockages can occur, and the individual experiences adverse consequences. That Western man is fragmented, alienated, frazzled and duped is hardly debatable, the question is how to go about availing ourselves of the knowledge of the East to improve our lot physically, mentally and spiritually.
The techniques described in the book are very simple to understand and implement. The goal is the align the Chakras in such a way that there is an unimpeded flow of energy from the mind and body and the Cosmos. The connection with the Cosmos is of the utmost importance, as healing can only take place when communication is maintained and the mind, body and spirit are one unit. Too many people suffer from ailments which are caused by a disruption in the Chakra System. Medical doctors in the West refuse to even concede that the Chakras exist, let alone attempt to bring them into alignment.
Many of us are looking for relief, relief from physical and mental pain...pain which doctors and mental health workers have failed miserably to address. The time has come to take matters into our own hands and treat the CAUSE not the symptom. With health insurance practically nonexistent or woefully inadequate we really don't have any choice anyway....we need to take care of ourselves because nobody in the health care system, the government, or academia gives a flying rat's ass about us. Many ask whether we come back after our 75 year soujourn in another form. Well, you just have to glance around to see that every second billions of life forms are coming into existence as we speak. The Cosmos brings forth life. Nature recycles. What real significance does the term "death" have? Sure, things die, and things are born, they come and they go, even stars and planets. But the same forces that produced the stars and planets of today will still be at work when stars super-nova and cast off their elements into space...New stars are always formed, new planets, new life. So death would only be a transition between periods, whether it's the death of a star or a carbon-based living organism. It would appear that our 75 year life span is some sort of opportunity to learn something, to evolve and develop, to somehow come to some kind of understanding of the workings of the Cosmos and establish some sort of rapport with the Cosmos, to connect, mind and soul, to the forces which govern the essence of the Cosmos.
Perhaps through meditation and introspection we can energize the spark which connects us to Eternity and awaken from our mundane slumber...Awaken from the trance which has been surrepticiously imposed on us by banal society. As people fall away from the grip of the False Gods of money, war, commercialism, fashion, trends, consumerism, etc, they serve as beacons for others, and the snowball effect sets in....Progressive, awakened peoples are making the connection with the Cosmos and connecting with eachother..As the movement grows each day it becomes more intense and energized...Cosmic Consciousness takes shape...Those mired in the abyss of banality become more and more alienated and cut off from the Mainstream and The Awakened Ones fortify their sense of purpose....Life is good!!!!!

What is it that determines what we do? Do we tell our brain what to do, or does our brain tell US what to do? Sometimes we say: "I'm bored!"...What does that mean? Does that mean we're waiting for our brain to tell us what to do, or does it mean we don't know what to tell our brain to do? Why do we dream? We are confronted with a myriad of "Gurus" who tell us this is the way, we should do this, and not that, only THIS path leads to salvation, THAT path leads to destruction. Each one contradicts the other, no concensus exists, its every man for himself in a frenzied free-for-all where everything is helter-skelter.
Is it any wonder that so much neuroticism abounds, so much violence, so much despair? Society has sunk to a level of complete chaos, in a spiritual sense. Is there something that represents a departure from all this nonesense? Is there a lifestyle which incorporates the fundamental ingredients of a logical approach at understanding the universe and our place in it?
Establishing a rapport with the Cosmos, transcending banality, cleansing the self of detrimental influences and evolving into that Being which represents the culmination of the ascendance of the human spirit, that is the goal of the person seeking tranquility, equanimity and Cosmic Consciousness.

It's a new ball game. Everything must be reevaluated and put in perspective. What was the normal course of events becomes false and no longer feasible. We make a new plan. Some things are universal, they never need to be updated or changed. Spouses, jobs, domiciles, interests come and go, but The Cosmos remains the same. The same galaxies, planets, stars are still in place as before. Cosmic Consciousness continues unabated. The pursuit of the noble, the forthright, the sublime perseveres.
It is in the realm of the eternal, unchangeable Cosmos that we find substance, and establishing a rapport with the Cosmos enables us to relinquish our deathgrip on banality and ascend to a higher level of consciousness, a place where we no longer see, but observe, no longer hear, but listen, no longer exist but LIVE.

On a distant bright light we fix our focused gaze;
As we navigate through the mist, fog and haze;
Our hearts ablaze with a fervent, blissful glow;
Flushed with victory after vanquishing our foe;
Through sheer force of unshakable, mighty will;
We have broken our shakles and ascended the hill;
No longer at the mercy of liars, thieves and scum;
No longer weary, confused, bewildered and numb;
We have found The Source which guides our way;
And we look forward to a glorious New Day!
