Naysayers, skeptics, cynics, nihilists, pessimists, doom-mongers and grumpy old men abound.....on the other hand, a growing cadre of humanity has rejected the gloom and doom of the morose mob. Life is an opportunity to explore, discover, savor, enjoy, muse over and experience the bounty of the Cosmos....There is so much to learn, so much to facilitate our understanding of the meaning of life. Why is it that when we see a spectacular sunset we are filled with an awe that transcends reason, logic and understanding? What is it in that sunset that strips away the buffer that separates us from our True Self? The Cosmos is a living entity, the characteristics of which are such that they do not fit in any of the boxes we have constructed, hence we must construct a new box for it. We are blessed with free thought with which we can pierce the veil of ignorance and establish a rapport with the Living Cosmos. Through a coordinated approach of meditation, cleansing of the self, and a realization that we have a purpose, that the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars and galaxies form a natural Web of Cognitive Energy, each of us can tap into this web and begin the process of remembering our true status, an integral part of the web, a Cosmic Player, an agent of Celestial Consciousness.

Too many people are hoodwinked by the allure of banality and sink into the abyss of mundane pursuits, chasing after things, grasping for the very material wealth that enslaves us and drains our energy and leaves us bereft of spirituality. A new car is only new for one year, new clothes go out of fashion overnight, every ephemeral phenomenon we struggle and scratch for fades away right before our eyes...relationships, jobs, homes, interests, all come and go. Only our relationship with the eternal Cosmos and our evolving into spiritual beings is worth our devotion. As a spiritual being we see things differently, we have different expectations, our perception is totally different. We strive to connect with kindred spirits, to associate with those who share our view, and to find ways to make the world a better place. We abhor all that trashes the human spirit and renders an individual a cog in the societal clockwork.

Focus

We strive to focus and bring into harmony all we know;
Our bodies, our mind, our soul all are molded like dough;
Aligned and in tune with the natural Cosmic order of things;
We feel the connection and the sense of Oneness it brings;
For in establishing a rapport with the Cosmos we sever the ties;
The ties to banality which has enslaved us with its lies;
The Energy emanating from the great Cosmic Source;
Is our substance, our power and our inspirational force.

Occasionally, out of the dung heap of printed matter a book rises up and shines. One of those books is: "Meditation as Medicine" by Dharma Singh Khalsa, MD. The author is both a medical doctor and a practicing Yogi. Everyone has heard of the incredible feats of Yogis...being buried for days, then dug up alive, lying on nails, walking on hot coals, all with apparently no harm. The knowledge of the Yogis goes back thousands of years...in a land where spirituality is a way of life. No rational person can dismiss out of hand the potential in this culture to aid the individual to rise above the mundane and achieve a higher level of consciousness. There has, however, always existed a chasm between Eastern and Western thought, especially regarding the health of the body. The East treats the human phenomenon as a unit, mind, spirit, body, soul, whereas the West breaks everything down onto segments, treating each one as if it had nothing to do with the other aspects of the human form. This causes disharmony and pain.

Khalsa describes the Chakra System, a series of 8 "Energy Centers" which are located at various points of the body, seven of which reside within the body and one serves as the "aura". This 8th Chakra is the connection to the Cosmos. It is a force field which surrounds the body and communicates with the 7th Chakra, the Crown Chakra, at the top of the head. The 8 Chakras can get out of alignment, blockages can occur, and the individual experiences adverse consequences. That Western man is fragmented, alienated, frazzled and duped is hardly debatable, the question is how to go about availing ourselves of the knowledge of the East to improve our lot physically, mentally and spiritually.

The techniques described in the book are very simple to understand and implement. The goal is the align the Chakras in such a way that there is an unimpeded flow of energy from the mind and body and the Cosmos. The connection with the Cosmos is of the utmost importance, as healing can only take place when communication is maintained and the mind, body and spirit are one unit. Too many people suffer from ailments which are caused by a disruption in the Chakra System. Medical doctors in the West refuse to even concede that the Chakras exist, let alone attempt to bring them into alignment.

Many of us are looking for relief, relief from physical and mental pain...pain which doctors and mental health workers have failed miserably to address. The time has come to take matters into our own hands and treat the CAUSE not the symptom. With health insurance practically nonexistent or woefully inadequate we really don't have any choice anyway....we need to take care of ourselves because nobody in the health care system, the government, or academia gives a flying rat's ass about us. The only thing they care about is money.

Sometimes we wonder what it's all about...Sometimes we question our place in the Cosmos....This is natural because the human mind is programmed to take periodic reality checks. If we do something repetitively for long periods it becomes rote. The human mind loves innovation and abhors rote, so when the mind perceives rote it snaps into reality-checking mode. Jobs, relationships, interests, everything is subject to scrutiny and change. The only constant is the Cosmos itself...the eternal Cosmos, The One, The Source, The Mother of everything that ever was or ever will be. The human mind is imbued with a natural affinity towards the stars...Since time immemorial humans have known that the actions of mortal man on Earth is but a tiny fraction of all there is, so he has always gazed furtively at the stars for guidance...The notions of life, death, time and space seem to be very hard for the human mind to grasp...Our 75 year life span is a mere blip in Cosmic time, an infinitessimal interval..... civilization itself is a mere tick in the tick-tock of Cosmic time....Yet we dwell on the details of this tiny time frame and act as if it will last forever. It won't, but the Cosmos will last forever, and we are integral parts of the Cosmos, therefore, we, ourselves will last forever.
Many ask whether we come back after our 75 year soujourn in another form. Well, you just have to glance around to see that every second billions of life forms are coming into existence as we speak. The Cosmos brings forth life. Nature recycles. What real significance does the term "death" have? Sure, things die, and things are born, they come and they go, even stars and planets. But the same forces that produced the stars and planets of today will still be at work when stars super-nova and cast off their elements into space...New stars are always formed, new planets, new life. So death would only be a transition between periods, whether it's the death of a star or a carbon-based living organism. It would appear that our 75 year life span is some sort of opportunity to learn something, to evolve and develop, to somehow come to some kind of understanding of the workings of the Cosmos and establish some sort of rapport with the Cosmos, to connect, mind and soul, to the forces which govern the essence of the Cosmos.
Perhaps through meditation and introspection we can energize the spark which connects us to Eternity and awaken from our mundane slumber...Awaken from the trance which has been surrepticiously imposed on us by banal society. As people fall away from the grip of the False Gods of money, war, commercialism, fashion, trends, consumerism, etc, they serve as beacons for others, and the snowball effect sets in....Progressive, awakened peoples are making the connection with the Cosmos and connecting with eachother..As the movement grows each day it becomes more intense and energized...Cosmic Consciousness takes shape...Those mired in the abyss of banality become more and more alienated and cut off from the Mainstream and The Awakened Ones fortify their sense of purpose....Life is good!!!!!

UP Ahead
The stars shine with a brilliance of finely polished gold;
They represent all that we desire but cannot hold;
For they shine for purposes beyond our might;
But nevertheless remain right there in plain sight;
Reminding us of our own place in the Cosmic realm;
Aboard the Ship of Life, but we are not at the helm;
We are but passengers on a journey to a wondrous place;
Where we no longer worry about the wrinkles on our face;
A place of joy and a place of everlasting, glorious bliss;
With such an image in mind, what could we possibly miss?

Our preoccupation with mundane trivialities obscurs our view of what's really happening. After decades of working a job it gets to the point that it's all there is. Life is not a job. Life is not a relationship. These are simply things that intertwine themselves into life, not life itself. Life is that which animates the universe. Life is the living Cosmos. We are all integral parts of a living Cosmos, constantly changing form, perpetually making new discoveries.

What is it that determines what we do? Do we tell our brain what to do, or does our brain tell US what to do? Sometimes we say: "I'm bored!"...What does that mean? Does that mean we're waiting for our brain to tell us what to do, or does it mean we don't know what to tell our brain to do? Why do we dream? We are confronted with a myriad of "Gurus" who tell us this is the way, we should do this, and not that, only THIS path leads to salvation, THAT path leads to destruction. Each one contradicts the other, no concensus exists, its every man for himself in a frenzied free-for-all where everything is helter-skelter.

Is it any wonder that so much neuroticism abounds, so much violence, so much despair? Society has sunk to a level of complete chaos, in a spiritual sense. Is there something that represents a departure from all this nonesense? Is there a lifestyle which incorporates the fundamental ingredients of a logical approach at understanding the universe and our place in it?

Establishing a rapport with the Cosmos, transcending banality, cleansing the self of detrimental influences and evolving into that Being which represents the culmination of the ascendance of the human spirit, that is the goal of the person seeking tranquility, equanimity and Cosmic Consciousness.

The Wall of Tears................................................................................. Le Mur des Lamentations..................................................................... Die Traenenmauer................................................................................ El Muro de Lagrimas............................................................................

This is a place to complain, to tell the world what's laying heavy on your heart, whats eating you, what's preventing you from being happy.

Oftentimes we come to a point in our life where we pause and take stock of what our life consists of....Usually this will be at some ominous juncture, like a divorce, losing a job, becoming ill, finding ourselves homeless or in jail....But it may also occur out of the blue for no apparent reason. We get caught up in the treadmill of the workaday world and become like hamsters, going around our little wheel, not getting anywhere, oblivious and numb. That point of reflection is a wake-up call. It enables us to step back and observe what is actually taking place.
It's a new ball game. Everything must be reevaluated and put in perspective. What was the normal course of events becomes false and no longer feasible. We make a new plan. Some things are universal, they never need to be updated or changed. Spouses, jobs, domiciles, interests come and go, but The Cosmos remains the same. The same galaxies, planets, stars are still in place as before. Cosmic Consciousness continues unabated. The pursuit of the noble, the forthright, the sublime perseveres.
It is in the realm of the eternal, unchangeable Cosmos that we find substance, and establishing a rapport with the Cosmos enables us to relinquish our deathgrip on banality and ascend to a higher level of consciousness, a place where we no longer see, but observe, no longer hear, but listen, no longer exist but LIVE.

Thoughts emanate from somewhere....sure, they manifest themselves in the brain, but is the brain their source, that is the question....what if there exists Universal Thought, a sort of Cosmic CPU, and the brain functions as a modem? That would explain the fact that when writers are asked where the ideas come from for a book, they say they dont have the foggiest notion..It would also explain how some people exhibit extra-sensory perception and claire voyance..Could it be that the brain could be developed in such a way as to receive information from The Source in a more proficient fashion, to tap into the vast unknown data bank of the Cosmos? Is it possible to establish a rapport with the Cosmos, develope lines of communication, align the neurons, dendrites and synopses of the brain in such a way as to facilitate the energy which flows throughout the Cosmos to be utilized? That there exists no intelligence outside the earth is an assumption which has no basis in fact. Indeed, the sheer vastness of the universe bodes ill for the warm and fuzzy feeling that the earth is the only beacon of intelligence...coupled with the history of mankind...a history of wars, inhumanity, slavery and poverty...invokes a premonition that perhaps there is something up there which represents the source of intelligence and knowledge. The individual who realizes that the mundane world of malls, sitcoms and commercialized media does not enable him to develope his full potential is in a position to redirect his energies in the right direction and begin the process of achieving Cosmic Awareness...that level of consciousness which produces clarity of mind and non-attachment to ephemeral phenomena.
On a distant bright light we fix our focused gaze;
As we navigate through the mist, fog and haze;
Our hearts ablaze with a fervent, blissful glow;
Flushed with victory after vanquishing our foe;
Through sheer force of unshakable, mighty will;
We have broken our shakles and ascended the hill;
No longer at the mercy of liars, thieves and scum;
No longer weary, confused, bewildered and numb;
We have found The Source which guides our way;
And we look forward to a glorious New Day!

How many times have you clicked on a blog and had to witness the spectacle of some housewife in Oshkosh bragging about her kids, her husband, her dog, her lawn? Didn't it make you want to puke? It sure does me...that's why THIS blog is NOT about ME!!! This blog focuses on things we all share in common.....discovering what life is all about, how to deal with stressful situations, delving into the very essence of life, time, space and meaning. We as humans are born with an innate hunger for knowledge, a natural curiosity which compels us to discover that which is unknown, correct that which is false, and establish some sort of rapport with the Cosmos, or, at least, make a little more sense of it. Turn on the TV and the swill emanating from the screen is so horrible it has become a form of torture...nowhere does there appear any source which smacks of truth, compassion, honesty and forthrightness. Everything in the media has evolved into bytes of banality, disjointed bits of disparate information that form no Whole, only a helter-skelter patchwork of commercialized, special effects-filled blotches of hogwash. Is it any wonder that drugs, booze, medications, etc have taken over millions? What is needed is a new way of looking at things, a fresh glimpse into the phenomenon we call life. What is it that produces happiness? Why are so few people happy?... happiness is simply being content with the way things are and with what you have. It's that simple. If you live in a small house in the country, to be happy is to be content in that small house and not want a huge house...if you drive a 95 Taurus, and it's still in good shape, why would you want to go and put yourself in debt all over again buying a new car? If you have some decent clothes in the closet, why go out and run up the credit cards on expensive clothes? It seems we have been brainwashed by the media into thinking that there is never enough of anything, that bigger is better, newer is essential, that the Jones must never get ahead of us...Well, the Jones are struggling just like us...they would like to be content with what they have, they don't need the aggrevation any more than we do...Once we have reconciled ourselves to the fact that we must put limits on our desires, the rest is easy. We need only to evaluate our lives in terms of what produces the greatest harmony...the least negative energy. There is a final goal to life, something that goes beyond careers, beyond relationships, beyond every ephemeral phenomenon. That is the realization that there is more than this small planet and a 75 year stint in this particular body. The Cosmos created us, and back into the Cosmos we shall merge, ready or not. The individual who has been successful in achieving a higher level of consciousness through meditation, introspection and a cleansing of the self will be able to establish a rapport with the Cosmos, a connection with whatever is up there that calls the shots. This is actually the gist of it....allowing the mind and spirit to be enveloped in an aura of "Cosmic Awareness" a hightened sense of self, a place of bliss and tranquility that is insulated from banality and derives its essence from the timeless universe that surrounds us.....Once we have shed our mundane suits of armour we enter a level of consciousness which affords us a glimpse into the Cosmic Beyond, that unknown place where we began and where we return...it is in that place that we realize that our 75 year stint was just a short sojourn to which we need attach no undue importance...We live on...perhaps we will don other bodies, experience other sojourns, perhaps just merge back into the primordial essence of the Cosmos...makes no difference...When we reach this level, death becomes a non-event, as death is but a portal that leads elswhere..and nobody is too concerned about walking through a door...So, we strive to quiet our mind so as to be able to allow it to evolve and develop..to grow closer to the eternal Whole which envelops time, space and thought...Being happy is living in the present moment...not dreaming about the future nor pining over the past, but actually living moment by moment, in real time, completely in tune with the environment and with a focused mind. ..Unfortunately, our thoughts have a tendency to drift and wander...we lose focus...we spend a large part of our time wondering what life COULD be like instead of actually living the life we have..this makes life a spectator sport...we drool over the lives of celebs, while our lives languish and whither away...But is the life of a celeb really so spectacular? Sure, they have more money than we do, but who's to know if they are any happier? In fact, being in the spotlight creates problems that people like us don't have to concern ourselves with...No Papparazzis are going to chase us into a tunnel and cause us to crash...we can go about the task of squeezing every last ounce of joy and happiness out of our lives in peace..Focusing on the present moment, intently observing all that takes place within our domain, savouring each tidbit, that is the secret of a happy life....
